How do I find a suitable therapist?

Through our website you can quickly and easily find a therapist in your area. Find a shiatsu therapist

Is Iokai Shiatsu suitable for everyone?

Yes. In principle, everyone can benefit from Iokai Shiatsu. It offers relief from health problems and it is also recommended from a preventive point of view.
In the event of fever or infections, if you have recently undergone surgery or if you have any open wounds, we advise against receiving an Iokai Shiatsu treatment. There are conditions such as cancer, chronic diseases or anatomical abnormalities that cannot be treated with Iokai Shiatsu. However, in these cases Iokai Shiatsu may well be of support in the sense that it can bring relief from pain and fatigue symptoms. This improves the general well-being. If you have any doubts, always consult your therapist or doctor.

How much does a treatment cost?

The costs of Iokai Shiatsu treatments depend on the therapist. All rates are subject to 21% VAT.

Do insurance companies cover Iokai Shiatsu?

Yes. Most supplementary insurance plans reimburse Iokai Shiatsu treatments. To be certain, please check your policy conditions or contact your insurance company. Then you will know exactly where you stand.

What about privacy of clients?

Naturally, the privacy of the person receiving treatment is protected. The therapist will take the utmost care in handling the data and information provided and will never share these with third parties without the client’s express permission. All therapists are registered within the Dutch Personal Data Protection Act (Wet Bescherming Persoonsgegevens, WBP) and act accordingly.

Where can I register a complaint about my therapist?

If you have a complaint about an Iokai Shiatsu therapist you can contact the Association’s secretariat. Your complaint will immediately be dealt with by the complaints committee. If you are not satisfied with their conclusion, then you can turn to TCZ [the Dutch national disciplinary board for complementary care]. All therapists who have joined our Association are automatically subject to the disciplinary rules and regulations of TCZ.
